Statistics: Russia’s palladium output rises 4.4% on year in 2016
MOSCOW, Jan 25 (PRIME) -- Russia’s palladium and palladium alloy output rose 4.4% on the year in 2016, the Federal State Statistics Service said on Wednesday.
Platinum and platinum alloy production increased 3.3% on the year in 2016, while production of gold-bearing ore and concentrates rose 2.6%. But production of silver ore and concentrates went down 13.6%, and output of uncut diamonds also fell 2.9%.
In December 2016, palladium and palladium alloy production more than doubled on the year and jumped 34.2% on the month, while platinum and platinum alloy output soared 84.3% and 12.8%, respectively. Production of gold-bearing ore and concentrates fell 4.6% on the year and 16.2% on the month, but production of silver ore and concentrates went up 2.1% on the year and 17% on the month.
The output of uncut diamonds rose 27.5% on the year and 10.9% on the month in December 2016.
Previously, absolute figures on the production of non-ferrous metals were a state secret. The figures are no longer classified, but the government does not publish them.
